CHIQUITA
Chiquita is more than a pet. She is the heart that carried a family through distance, loss, and new beginnings. Born in Acarigua, Venezuela, she became a silent witness to her family’s life during years of political persecution and uncertainty. When the Arvelo Marchan family was forced to leave the country, Chiquita made the journey with them, crossing borders and memories with the same calm gaze that had always held them together.

Now twenty years old, Chiquita has lived a lifetime of loyalty and love. She has been present for every change, and in her quiet presence, she has taught the meaning of home. Her recent cancer diagnosis gave new shape to her story, where she is reimagined as a brave little chigüire carrying the essence of Venezuela within her.
Flores del Llano was born from the story of a family forced to begin again. The Arvelo Marchan family left Venezuela after years of political persecution — carrying only what could fit in a few bags, the memory of their home in Acarigua, and a small dog named Chiquita who had witnessed it all. Exile was never a choice, but a necessity. The journey that began in fear slowly became one of resilience and rebuilding. From the quiet of displacement came the need to remember, to honor the people and the places that shaped them, and to give back to those still living through the struggle they once faced.
